Job Description

Client of ours in  Columbia, MD is looking for a LAMP Web Developer. This is a direct hire opportunity.  This person will serve as a full-stack LAMP web development expert capable of working on all tiers of the application. They will demonstrate a deep understanding of advance JavaScripts techniques, adhere and contribute to development policies, procedures, and standards and provide solutions to obstacles during the development process. 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Develop Web applications by studying existing technology architecture; analyzing browser compatibility techniques; evaluating solution alternatives; developing prototypes; building n-tier, scalable, and multimedia applications; programming objects, events, functions, error trapping, and data verification; and completing documentation.
  • Create well executed software solutions to business requirements that are consistent with internal standards and are delivered on time with minimal defects.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Respond to occasional system errors, including those during off hours.
  • Accomplish department and organization goals by completing related tasks as needed.
  • Able to work effectively in an agile team environment.

    Requirements

    • B.S. in Computer Science/Information Technology; or equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Expert understanding of semantically correct HTML.
    • Expert understanding of CSS, table-less formatting, and design principles.
    • Expert understanding of advanced JavaScript techniques that go beyond JQuery.
    • Expert understanding of PHP.
    • Expert understanding of Apache, including the ability to create Virtual Hosts.
    • Expert understanding of MySQL; able to do Select, Insert, Delete, and Update tasks, quickly generate complex SQL queries from an entity-relationship diagram.
    • Knowledge of a JavaScript framework (preferably, Backbone, Ember, Angular, or Knockout).
    • Knowledge of basic Linux.
    • Knowledge of a PHP framework (preferably, Kohana or Zend, Cake PHP, CodeIgniter, or Symfony).
    • Knowledge of Ruby and/or Python programming languages.
    • Knowledge of a templating language (preferably, Mustache or Handlebars)
    • The understanding of, and ability to apply, test driven development practices.
    • The ability to simultaneously handle multiple functions including: writing code, balancing project tasks, performing code reviews and writing unit tests.
    • The ability to recommend technical solutions that match the system’s standards and overall design methodology
