Job Description
Job Description: Responsibilities: The plant engineer will function as a project engineer responsible for execution of capital projects as well as technical support of operational areas in accordance with all guidelines to improve safety, compliance, efficiencies, quality, reliability, capacity, or infrastructure. Safety:
Support a strong safety culture at the site.
Identify hazards and support countermeasure implementation.
Utilize safety systems such as LOTO and safe work permit policies when appropriate.
Quality:
Lead or participate in IQ/OQ/PQ activities (including commissioning activities of new or modified equipment).
Support periodic reviews (PRs) for equipment and automation systems.
Identify and implement solutions for compliance improvements.
Utilize the change control process (as change owner) as applicable related to project or improvement work.
Capital Project Management:
Manage all aspects of the project to meet customer needs, including detailed scope, capital request, cost estimates, design possibly with and without outside consultants, budgeting/cost control, project scheduling, construction, GMP qualifications process, contract and equipment/material procurement, status reports/updates, project close-out.
Safety and Environmental: Proactively take safety and environmental issues into account on all project activities, including ergonomic design, scope/safety kickoff meetings and observing/reporting incidents, unsafe behaviors or near misses.
Manufacturing Support:
Lead or participate in problem solving activities including root cause analysis and countermeasure development and implementation.
Act as resource for development and implementation of procedures and training.
Resource for troubleshooting equipment with operations and maintenance.
Asset Management/Reliability:
Identify failure modes of equipment and assist with maintenance strategies to mitigate impact of failure
Assist with identification of spare parts for equipment and computer hardware.
Assist with development of preventive maintenance strategy and procedures.
Work with engineering team on Resource Assessment for capital planning needs.
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Engineering degree
Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of Engineering and experience in a GMP production environment.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Experience with development of SOPs, change controls, capital requests, and deviation investigation.
Strong performer with flexibility to relocate to another Elanco site within 3-5 years.
Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this position.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical skills, with particular regard to the sciences (ex. mathematics, data analysis, & chemistry)
Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak in front of groups and write clear, concise reports & correspondence.
Ability to work independently and appropriately prioritize work.
Strong organizational skills including expertise in managing multi-stage technical projects.
Strong teamwork/interpersonal skills
Additional Information:
Site and responsibilities are located in Overland Park, KS
Manufacturing operation is an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday.
Respiratory protection (including tight fitting, e.g., dust mask) required in some areas
Work environment may contain some allergens
Travel less than 5%.
