Job Description

Absolute Consulting is seeking candidates for a Systems Test Engineer 3 position in Newport News. This is a contract role expected to last approximately 1 year, potentially longer. No per diem is being offered; looking for local candidates. No corp2corp opportunities, W2 only. 

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. 
  • Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. 
  • Coordinates integrated testing activities. 
  • Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. 
  • Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

    Job Requirements

    Qualified candidates will possess the following skills:

    • The preferred candidate will have an Electrical engineering degree, electronics experience, and an interested working in office, shop, and shipboard environments. 
    • The applicant must have experience in test engineering as well as automated data acquisition. 
    • Specialized knowledge and experience in both general instrumentation and computer based data acquisition is required. 
    • Experience with National Instruments’ LabVIEW software is desired as is a LabVIEW Software Developer certification. 
    • Experience with data reduction software such as MATLAB and National Instruments’ DiaDEM software is also desired for this position. 
    • Control system design and troubleshooting experience is desired with an emphasis on SIEMENS hardware and PLCs. 
    • Lastly, The candidate should have an interest in working with computers and a reasonably strong IT background with a thorough understanding of basic computer hardware and Microsoft based operating systems. 
    • Some nights and weekends are expected during preparations for, and conduct of, key events.
    • Occasional driving may be required.
    • A current security clearance is preferred. Candidates must be able to obtain a security clearance.
