Job Description Senior Project Manager (Agile)


Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the success of their assigned project goals and objectives. The Project Manager is primarily responsible for managing projects with regards to scope, timeline, and budget.  They are also responsible for communicating the health of the project, its progress, and risks and issues with suggested mitigation strategies.  The project manager must also have leadership, communication and collaboration skills necessary to build and lead project teams. The PM must demonstrate effective use of negotiation, analysis and decision-making as methods to balance project demands and keep projects on track.


Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or Engineering. PMP or equivalent certification desired. Training in agile software development or project management preferred.


Knowledge and Skills
This position must have knowledge of standard project management procedures.   It requires strength in information systems as well as an outstanding ability to coordinate resources and manage both system and business process implementations.  The Project Manager must be able to develop and manage project plans according to a structured agile project management methodology.   Other applicable knowledge and skills are:

• Ability to utilize the Microsoft Suite (includes MS Visio, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Project Server);


Specific Duties 


1. Development of business cases, project estimates, and resource needs.  
2. Create and manage project budget, timeline, and scope. 
3. Use low-tech, agile methods to communicate project progress.
4. Lead multiple concurrent projects and proactively track and report on their progress.
5. Manage and enforce project time tracking and maintain an accurate record of actual time spent on the project.
6. Understand IS business cycles and the resulting resource availability for use in forecasting project timelines.
7. Schedule and facilitate project related meetings.
8. Track project issues risks and facilitate their resolution, including scope change, resource change, timeline, and any other major issues which may need to be escalated.
9. Field questions regarding project status, dates, and task assignments – specifically for those not directly involved with the project.
10. Manage the project workspace and related documentation.
11. Create communication and implementation plans, develop success criteria, and manage the project transition, to include preparing the organization for change.
12. Manage resistance, address and resolve conflict.



Job RequirementsPrior Experience
• Minimum five (5) years of Project Management experience working on technical, application development, or business improvement projects.
• Minimum 2 years experience managing projects in an agile development environment.
• Experience managing a distributed team.
• Full project lifecycle experience.
• Experience with implementation of business process redesign or the implementation of business changes within an organization.
• Proven ability to work well in a team.
• Experience managing conflicts, negotiating, and maintaining a degree of adaptability.
• Proven expertise in preparing and presenting communications to all levels of management and staff.
• Experience managing projects for CRM, PeopleSoft, Business Intelligence or SharePoint/web-based applications desired.
• Understanding of one or more agile methodologies such as Scrum, XP, DSDM, Crystal, Lean, etc. Agile certification preferred.
