Job Description

West Virginia Interactive, LLC, a Charleston-based subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC (NASDAQ: EGOV), helps West Virginia government entities Web-enable their information services. Our electronic government solutions use technology to increase efficiency and reduce costs for governments and their constituents.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated candidate who thrives in a fast paced environment to join our team as a Web Designer. This position will oversee the design of new leading edge Web/mobile/e-commerce applications and services. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with a small team of highly versatile and talented project managers and developers. 

Job Duties:

  • Designs, constructs and maintains website and web application interfaces
  • Works with a project team to determine interaction design and application work flow, and creates XHTML/CSS prototypes to demonstrate how the application should flow
  • Designs usable and attractive interfaces based on best practices for mobile, web and responsive design, and that are enthusiastically adopted by the public
  • Constructs application pages using current Web languages and techniques and ensures that pages are standards compliant (i.e., W3C), universally accessible (i.e., Section 508, W.C.A.G.) and validate to cross-browser compatibility
  • Ensures the proper functioning and accessibility of any scripting or programming languages, and resolves advanced programming/interface/appearance issues
  • Performs usability research, testing and analysis and uses the information collected to effectively solve usability problems
  • Contributes to the general functioning and effectiveness of the organization by engaging in activities such as special projects, creating presentations and promotional items, report preparation, and other similar duties  
  • Job Requirements

    Requirements:

    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum of two years’ related experience
    • Expert Knowledge of HTML(5) and CSS(3)
    • Desire and ability to work in fast-paced, highly flexible and entrepreneurial environment
    • Enjoy working both independently and within small project teams
    • Exceptional customer service skills and effective presentation skills
    • Strong leadership, organizational and prioritization skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent communication skills including strong written and verbal abilities
    • Self-motivated and proactive
    • Able to provide a portfolio of previous work upon request

    Experience preferred with the following:

    • Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010
    • XSLT
    • JavaScript / jQuery
    • Twitter Bootstrap Framework
