The Credit Officer is responsible for competence in lending policies, products, and services; reviewing both new and renewing small business loan application requests to insure they are complete and in compliance with credit policies and regulations; analyzing financial statements and tax returns and preparing comments regarding the client’s ability to repay, using acceptable cash flow analysis; and analyzing the value of the collateral being offered for the loan request. Will conduct commercial loan analyses on competition, market trends, interest rates and economic conditions; will complete credit analyses, underwrite, and approve loan packages. In addition, the Credit Officer may assist with Credit Administration such as administration of origination software, training of team members on credit and process related topics. Incumbent will represent the Bank at various civic and community functions to further enhance Bank’s image and develop additional business contacts and referral resources.

Job RequirementsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in finance, business, and/or accounting is preferred and a minimum of three or more years experience in small business lending. Must have a thorough level of knowledge in the administration, analysis, and credit policy/procedures specific to the principles and practices associated with small business banking and related financial analysis; thorough knowledge of the practices and regulations that govern the banking industry and the implications of federal, state, and local regulations affecting commercial lending activities is required; and understands and articulates business banking strategies and philosophies. Incumbent must have an expertise in the SBA Guarantee Program with strong knowledge of the SBA process to include packaging, analysis, collection and liquidation. In addition, the incumbent must be able to gather, arrange, compile, interpret, analyze, summarize, and evaluate information and data to identify sales opportunities and formulate conclusions and recommend actions; requires well-developed analytical and problem solving skills, extensive knowledge of small business credit and credit quality and well-developed written, communication and presentation skills; and must be proficient in the use of host and PC based software applications.
