Job Description

The Mergis Group is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead and oversee the underwriting department of a growing national mortgage company in the Twin Cities.    

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Management of the underwriting department including hiring, training and mentoring a large staff.
  • Ensure that underwriting procedures and regulatory guidelines are being executed in compliance. 
  • Ensure effective workflow and final loan decisoning is made according to regulatory requirements 
  • Keeping staff up to date on department policies and regulatory guidelines changes
  • Serve as a liaison and resolve issues between the operations and sales teams
  • Perform risk assessment for both lender and investor. 
  • Review QC reports and correct unacceptable loan issues
  • Provide reporting on departmental goals
    • Job Requirements

    Requirements:

    • 5-10 years of direct experience as an underwriting manager
    • FHA Direct Endorsement and VA automatic authority required
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Current knowledge loan regulatory guidelines and investor requirements
    • Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills
    • Reside or willing to relocate to the Twin Cities area
