Channel Biorefinery & Terminals (CBT) has announced the purchase of the Green Hunter biodiesel refinery located in Houston, Texas. The existing 110 MGY plant is being modified for the production of alternative feedstock based biodiesel. Utilizing state of the art technology for the pretreatment, reaction, and post treatment, the plant will be positioned as the lowest cost, highest quality biodiesel producer in the US market.

Job Description
CBT is hiring for Plant Operator jobs in our biodiesel plant. The Plant Operator performs multiple roles in our process facility and terminal which operates on a 24/7 schedule. Ongoing duties will include Inside Board Operator, Outside Plant Operator, and Terminal Operator. Successful candidates must be flexible and able to work various shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime is mandatory for these positions. The successful candidate must also be able to acquire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Job Duties:
• Complete routine rounds by checking all pumps and equipment for proper operation
• Operate plant processes with the use of process control terminals to monitor and regulate process variables
• Understand plant processes and key control points
• Unload trucks of various products into the process tanks
• Take samples from process equipment, analyze samples in the lab, record results and communicate to Board personnel
• Perform valve, equipment, and tank lineups required for product movements in the process
• Complete routine inspections of the facility
• Fully understand and diligently follow all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements to prevent environmental and safety issues
• Maintain location appearance, repair or replace equipment, and complete general housekeeping to maintain plant productivity and safety performance
Work Experience & Skills Required/Preferred:
• Experience with biodiesel operations preferred
• Knowledge of terminal operations
• Prior experience working in a chemical plant environment preferred
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other industry regulations
• Computer skills required to utilize standard products and proprietary databases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work without direct supervision to meet daily work requirements
• Possess strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Must be fully proficient in English

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
While performing the essential duties of this position, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, external weather conditions, and potential exposure to chemicals. Specific physical requirements include:
• Work around industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping reaching pulling, pushing, bending, and grasping.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Ability to open and close large valves
• Ability to work in confined spaces and climb several flights of stairs
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respiratory masks)
• Ability to work rotational on call, call ins, and weekend/holiday as required
Education Requirements
High school diploma required. An advanced degree, such as Associate Degree in Process Technology, is strongly preferred.
