Job Description We have a need in our Castleton, Vermont facility for a Product Engineer who will be responsible for engineering and development of new lighting products.

 

In this role you will utilize your experience in developing consumer products and apply it to the realization of our industry leading new product introductions.

 

You will be responsible for new product engineering, from concept to production using SolidWorks. You will own translating design concepts into prototypes, component definition including initial sourcing of new components, and engineering definition of final product.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with Designers to understand aesthetic qualities and design intent.
  • Responsible for finalizing and communicating the product definition  
  • Create all engineering drawings for component and product definition
  • Lead or generate the detail design of Key Components & Processes and support their development
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project and act as a presenter or participant in technical product reviews
  • Drive and develop new, or optimize existing product concepts within cross-functional teams
  • Take ownership in optimizing the products assigned, with responsibility to quality, design intent, manufacturability, first source of components, future product enhancements, and cost.
  • Awareness and knowledge of regulatory requirements, including UL, CSA, NEC, and NEMA, and how they apply to the lighting business.
  • Job Requirements
    • Minimum 2 year technical degree (4 year ME or EE preferred)
    • Demonstrated ability with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
    • Ability to comprehend and translate subjective, conceptual descriptions into objective engineering drawings
    • Proven track record in development and realization of new consumer products in a design and manufacturing environment.
    • Experience working both independently and providing leadership in a team-oriented, collaborative matrix environment
    • Strong project leadership and management skills and experienced with planning and scheduling, decision making, risk mitigation, outsourcing and capable of making technical and other trade-offs
    • Understanding of metal manufacturing processes, particularly welding and fabrication.
    • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and plans across all levels of organizations (internal and external)
    • Demonstrated capability to drive complex issues to resolution
