Maintenance Technician - Laser (TMMK) OVERVIEW:
Expanding from our initial core business providing critical process cleaning to automotive manufacturer’s paint shops, MacLellan Integrated Services provides a broad scope of maintenance, facilities management, HVAC and industrial engineering services to a variety of large manufacturers across North America and has become a partner and key provider of maintenance services to our customers.
We are continuing to grow our footprint of services and have acquired new laser based capital equipment at our customer site in Georgetown, Kentucky. We are seeking to fulfill a critical Maintenance Technician position for this new capability. This role will partner with our customer and our operations staff to identify opportunities to improve quality, increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Working in a self-directed technical team based environment, this Maintenance Technician assists with the operation and maintenance of a Laser Cleaning System, maintains a safe area and utilizes the equipment in a safe manner as required by regulation. Typical cleaning applications are automotive ovens and enclosures, dies and molds, structural surfaces, and specialized fabrications. Using a Safety Plan developed for the project, the Technician is responsible for assuring safety barricades, signage, and laser-safe barriers are installed, maintained at all times and reorganized as the work progresses. Following a detailed work plan, the Technician assists with transporting equipment to various buildings within a site and various sites within a multi-state region, setting up all equipment and accessories and managing the risk to the equipment and providing protection from damage. Equipment will require lifting to mezzanines and elevated work areas, movement within the work area along the floor or conveyors. Work areas will potentially be hot, humid, typically dusty, sticky, odorous, loud, confined spaces and have limited mobility and work will often be performed at elevation. Work will be on 12 hour shifts while production equipment is down on weekends, shutdowns, and holidays. Working on weekends and the ability to work on any shift are required. Safety and Operational Training will be provided.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Setup and adjust the equipment to meet the required quality standard and operate the laser head to clean surfaces.
Assist the team on preventative maintenance work orders and correctives as problems are encountered
Assist with documentation of all phases of the work to develop historical data for future estimating, updating maintenance requirements, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Perform other site work including equipment PM and repair, project and construction work, shop 5S and cleaning.
Interface with Management in all phases of the work.
WORKING ON WEEKENDS AND THE ABILITY TO WORK ANY SHIFT ARE REQUIRED
Maintenance Technician - Laser (TMMK) REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A 2 year technical degree from a certified trade school or technical college or an accredited skilled trade apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
Certification in any of the following are a plus: Scaffolding; GMAW, SMAW Welding; OSHA 30; NFPA 70E; or Aerial Lift.
Experience and proficiency using hand and power tools, transporting equipment and operating cranes, hoists, forklifts and mobile equipment in a manufacturing environment (auto manufacturing preferred).
Laser operation and maintenance experience is a plus.
Strong computer skills with proficiency using MS Office tools, especially Excel and Word.
Ability to work in a team environment and interact closely with team members.
Strong math skills, communication skills and excellent penmanship.
Must have a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
