Datacenter Engineer

 

Synoptek is an IT consulting firm specializing in Business Process and Systems Consulting, Infrastructure Technology Consulting, Outsourced IT, Website and Software Application Development, Implementation and Design. We are currently recruiting for a Datacenter Engineer.

 

Datacenter Engineer:

  • Daily administering, managing, and upkeep on SAN architecture
  • Provide administration, management, and upkeep for a VMware vSphere datacenter environment
  • Manage multiple client VMs and network infrastructures hosted in the datacenter
  • Process build out requests for new virtual environments
  • Support and manage multiple hosted domains, MSSQL, and Exchange environments both on physical and virtual hardware
  • Provide general LAN/WAN administration tasks
  • Performance Tuning and Monitoring for both physical and virtual server environments
  • Develop and maintain documentation required to support the datacenter environment
  • Identify system outages, complete datacenter incident report, discuss issues with upper management, and ensure that appropriate notifications are sent to customers affected by such outages
  • Consult with clients to understand their IT business needs then develop project proposals and SOW’s that meet those business needs and goals
  • Provide leadership and strong technical guidance for all other technical staff
  • 24x7 on-call support for any and all major datacenter issues.
    • Job Requirements

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of two years experience managing enterprise level SAN technology (Preferably Compellent Architecture)
    • Minimum of two years experience managing VMware clustered environments
    • Minimum five years experience in setting up, managing, windows server environments
    • Experience with Cisco networking, routing, vlans, and fabric zoning
    • Exceptional customer service skills
    • Must work well with a team of engineers
    • Must be able to self manage their time and schedules with little to no supervision
    • Degree in computer science, management information systems or similar preferred

     

     

    Required Technology Experience:

    • Enterprise Level SAN (Compellent perffered)
    • Microsoft SQL 2005/2008/2012 Administration and Management
    • VMware ESX, ESXi, vSphere (5.x environments preferred)
    • Cisco Fabric Switches
    • Cisco Network Switches
    • Cisco ASA / Cisco PIX Firewalls
    • Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007/2010
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Microsoft windows server 2003/2008/2008 R2 and SBS
    • Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp
    • TippingPoint IPS/SMS
    • Microsoft ISA Server
    • HP server hardware build, management, and troubleshooting experience
    • ManageEngine applications: OpManager and OpUtils
    • Datacenter backup solutions:  Commvault Simpana and Symantec BackExec
    • Windows XP/Vista/7

    • Microsoft Professional certification (MCP)
    • Microsoft MCSE certification
    • Cisco certifications
    • SAN certifications
