AUTOMOTIVE QUALITY ENGINEER/SQE

(Contract - Possible travel required)

 

COMPANY PROFILE

First Call Quality Services is an ISO certified, Quality Engineering Service Group providing and specializing in detecting, sorting, inspection, containment and rework of non-conforming material and engineering services to the automotive market. We provide these level one and level two containment services at OEM facilities, supplier’s facilities and logistics centers.

 

DESCRIPTION

The QE/SQE position requires a background in Mechanical Engineering with a demonstrated proficiency in structured problem solving techniques, tools and methods. Additionally, you will provide specific competencies in quality system assessments, SPC implementation and Advanced Product Quality Planning. Must be capable of gathering and utilizing data to drive decisions and formulate successful strategies in resolving product oriented defects. Quality engineering services are customized to facilitate solutions for our customers and incorporate all or part of the below listed tools and processes.

 

STRATEGIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual in this position develops, revises and applies quality assurance methods to ensure continuous improvement of product and process improvement. Possible daily contact with suppliers regarding containment or any issues with non-conforming product. Create clear, concise reports, findings and recommendations/solutions on customer specific applications and processes within required deadlines.

 

 

 

SUPPORT CLIENTS WITH PROCESS VALIDATION AND QUALITY CONSULTING SERVICES AND SUPPORT INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

•         Supplier Development

•         PFMEA

•         PPAP

•         Control plans

•         Root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations

•         APQP

•         Production line audits - respond to line calls involving parts issues throughout your assigned customers to gather information, troubleshoot and recommend solutions or manufacturing modifications.

•         Error proofing recommendations

•         Corrective action recommendations

•         Launch containment systems and management

•         Capability study review and validation

•         Ensure suppliers have processes and procedures in place to produce a quality product and meet capacity requirements.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

•         Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred but not required.

•         Minimum of 5 years experience in the automotive industry preferred or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment with emphasis on Quality Methods, Techniques, Processes and Containment.

•         Relatively high level of analytical skills for complex problem solving.

•         Solid knowledge and proficiency in MS Office - Word-Excel - Power point and Outlook.

•         General knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 and TS 16949 concepts.

•         Experience working in production assembly processes a plus with emphasis on Lean/Kaizen principles.
