Job Description

  • Ability to optimize development and utilization of talent.  This engineer will promote, support, and maintain positive labor/management relations; engage, coach, and mentor employees while driving accountability for performance standards and adherence to company policies. Uphold all corporate values.  Train and develop all technical and operating personnel, ensuring adequate systems and procedures are in place for employees to receive required certifications. This Operations manager will manager a superintendent, engineering and maintenance.
  • Technical capability to understand complexities of large scale continuous process operating units. Strategic ability to forecast market  changes and adjust manufacturing strategies.
  • Drive the organization’s safety culture throughout the operations; Maintain departmental strategy to ensure that safety performance goals are exceeded.

  • Ensure areas of operation are operating within all applicable regulatory and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Develop and adhere to manufacturing budget as related to production volume, variable cost usages and fixed costs. Manage operating costs and provide effective first run capabilities. 
  • Establish production schedules meet internal goals as well as customer expectations; manufacture product and deliver to customers according to manufacturing specifications. Resolve customer complaints.
  • Develop of manufacturing strategies and annual quality plans for continuous improvement.
  • Employ disciplined analytical tools for problem solving and improvement, including Kepner Tregoe method, Root Causes Analysis, 5S, Lean Principles, and/or Six Sigma.
  • Maintain ISO certification.

    Job Requirements 

    Bachelors of Science in Engineering required.

    The ideal candidate will have 15-25 years of experience, a minimum of 10 years of progressive technical or production experience as related to continuous operation chemical plants.  Cross functional experience in maintenance and production is preferred.  This engineer should have a strong knowledge of OSHA PSM 1910, RMP, environmental regulations, and ISO 9000.  This candidate should have demonstrated success in the areas of safety performance and performance to budget in previous positions.  Experience overseeing direct reports is a must. Utilities experience would be a plus.
