Job Description Planet Payment Inc. is a leading provider of international payment and transaction processing and multi-currency processing services. We have an excellent opportunity and an immediate need for a Network Engineer (Cisco) in our New Castle, DE office.

Position Summary:  

The Network Engineer is responsible for insuring the smooth operation of the organizations voice and data network in order to provide maximum performance and availability. The Network Engineer will be responsible for leading design, implementation and documentation for new projects as well as providing Tier 2 & 3 support for network issues. Additionally the Network Engineer is expected to provide pro-active analysis, planning and execution of key network metrics for the company and clients – leading to improved uptime and performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

●  Design, implement, maintain and support Planet Payment’s global networks.

●  Upgrade and maintain Cisco Nexus equipment across our LAN/WAN environment.

●  Perform LAN/WAN debugging at the most complex level.

●  Lead Network related projects.

●  Manage performance and maintain security of LANs at an advanced level.

●  Assist in Implementation of policies and procedures for LAN/WAN usage throughout the organization.

●  Act as primary organizational interface with vendors and provide internal analysis and support.

●  Document all changes, upgrades, maintenance, procedures, etc.

Job Requirements

Required Skills/Experience:

●  4+ years of work experience supporting Cisco and Fortinet technologies for medium to large enterprises with global presence.

●  Working knowledge of Cisco Nexus platform.

●  Working knowledge of Cisco switching & routing platforms.

●  Working knowledge of FortiGate next-generation firewall platforms.

●  Fluent with IP networking, services and routing protocols (IPv4, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, etc.)

●  Knowledge of local and wide area network technologies (MPLS, VPLS, SSL-VPN, IPsec, GRE, etc.)

●  Fundamental and proven understanding of multi-tenant data center environments and architectures.

●  Experience with multi-site private and public WAN/LAN design, deployment and support.

●  Experience with disaster recovery processes and procedures and high availability concepts.

●  Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills in a predominantly Cisco environment

●  Strong planning, design and implementation skills in a global enterprise environment.

●  Have a thorough understanding of centralized authentication mechanisms and encryption technologies.

●  Must be proficient with troubleshooting toolsets such as Wireshark, Solarwinds, NetFlow, etc.

●  Must be proficient with IOS, NX-OS, VRF, VPC, 802.1X

●  Strong attention to detail in analytical assessments; experienced in developing and maintaining high quality reports and assessments. Proficient with Visio, Excel, Power Point – Python/TCL scripting is a plus


●  Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, or Equivalent.

Work Environment: 

●  Fast-paced and holds a high level of responsibility to ensure timelines are met accordingly.

●  This position requires carrying a work issued cell phone and will be on call 24 x 7 for production issues

(On-call requirement is not a true 24x7 but rather 9:00 am to 9:00 pm when not in the office.  This rotates within the networking team and requires carrying the mobile phone one week out of every four weeks).
