Job Description The MSO Operations Network Engineer is located in our Alpharetta, GA office north of Atlanta and will report directly to the Manager of IT Managed Services Operations.

Job Title: MSO Operations Network Engineer

Position Summary:

 

This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining the company’s network infrastructure.  Responsibilities include but not limited to designing, configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting LAN and WAN networks, firewall/ security, monitoring bandwidth usage and data traffic patterns, assuring network uptime meets customer needs.  Duties include providing on call support after hours and on holidays (rotation).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands the general technical requirements of assigned applications
  • Has overview understanding of the Company’s business
  • Possesses strong networked systems troubleshooting skills
  • Manages problem calls and resolutions, and communicates resolution to appropriate IT personnel and system users
  • Develops test plans for configuration and installation work
  • Possesses solid understanding of the application deployment process and correlations with network administration responsibilities
  • Develops, documents, and coordinates implementation work plans
  • Facilitates the maintenance of network diagrams and documentation
  • Responsible for the administration of WAN, LAN and WLAN services
  • Assist in integration planning for migration of existing accounts and acquisitions
  • Ensures proper level of redundancy
  • Analyzes network traffic patterns and bandwidth usage
  • Manages and monitors, switches and routers, and uses remote monitoring tools, protocol analyzers and cable testers to troubleshoot, diagnose and identify failing/failed components
  • Assists with the selection of network management applications
  • Integrates and implements network management applications
  • Manages on-call escalations from the Help Desk, Network Analysts and Network Engineers
    • Job RequirementsKnowledge & Experience

     

    • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred.
    • Cisco CCIE or Juniper JNCIE certifications preferred.
    • Minimum 8 years of network experience in configuring, managing and troubleshooting of Cisco and Juniper devices. 
    • In depth TCP/IP knowledge
    • Excellent BGP / OSPF protocols understanding, configuration and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent understanding of STP and L2 related security features
    • Excellent understanding of IPsec and SSL VPNs
    • Strong understanding of WAN technologies, including, but not limited to MPLS
    • Experience with Cisco Catalyst and Juniper EX series of switches
    • Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls and Juniper SRX service gateways
    • Experience with F5 Load Balancers
