Network Engineer with VMware expertise

The successful candidate must have an active Secret Clearance and current and appropriate DoD 8570 Information Assurance (IA) and Computing Environment (CE) certifications.

The position requires 24/7 support and maintenance of all servers and components.

Network Engineer has overall responsibility for the design, configuration, maintenance and daily support of VMware and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. This includes troubleshooting directly with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities and requirements include:

Ensure network operations staff adherence to service level agreements and critical objectives.

Evaluate hardware and software upgrade needs and working with vendors to prepare upgrade configurations. Document and present recommendation to the management team.

Comprehensive experience working with VMWare.

Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades.

Experience working with software installation/upgrading procedures.

Experience working with file and system maintenance procedures.

Familiar with Basic routing and switching administration of multiple subnets with VLANs (CCNA) on Cisco preferred.

Familiar with Cisco wireless access points.

Install, program, troubleshoot and maintain: Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and VMware.

Hands-on technical knowledge of network and server operating systems.

Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP/IP, WINS and DNS, DHCP.

Develop and implement standards, procedures, and processes for the network operations group.

Able to conduct research into infrastructure issues and products as required.

Workstation Imaging and Deployment Technologies.

VMWare/Hyper-V/Virtualization concepts and best practices.
