Job Description Underwater Marine Conservation Research Assistant - Cambodia This is not a paid postion About Us: If you are looking to kick start your career in Marine Conservation, but do not yet have any diving qualifications or underwater field experience, then this placement will get you on the right track. During your placement you will learn diving skills, as well as essential marine conservation techniques, and put them into practice under the waves. You will not only gain personal skills and experience, but the data you collect will go directly toward the development of a second Marine Protected Area in the country. Qualifications and skills you will gain include:
  • PADI Open Water
  • Emergency First Responder
  • Reef Check and GCRMN Underwater Survey skills
  • Coral Watch – Health Check
  • The project is located on a remote island where you will experience genuine Cambodian life and culture, well away from the tourist trail, living alongside seasoned and enthusiastic staff. This is a unique opportunity for those who are passionate and want to learn more about our oceans, experience first hand conservation work in a developing country and work with a wonderful local community towards an effective, sustainable conservation programme.

    • Min age 18
    • Minimum 4 weeks commitment
    • Enthusiasm and interest in diving and marine conservation
    • Able to live and work in basic conditions
    • Good physical fitness
    • A medical statement from your physician (Diving medical form provided upon enrolment)
    • Conversational English
    • Full travel & medical insurance with diving and non-diving emergencies included
    • Necessary vaccinations
    • Necessary flights & visas (we will provide the necessary sponsor letter for your visa)
