Job Description The TSA Test and Evaluation Technician checks out, operates, maintains, repairs, and modifies TSA specific equipment. The technician performs a variety of activities and provides technical support on integrated and stand-alone security systems and sub-systems, including testing at customer and/or field location. Should be capable of troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions to eliminate problems in an expeditious manner.  The Technician implements upgrades, and removes systems and sub-systems to ensure coordinated engineering field changes.  The Technician should be capable implementing preventive maintenance programs and keeps performance and maintenance records on equipment.   Responsibilities include:
  • Perform the testing, calibration, operation, and troubleshooting of systems of a complex nature.
  • Performs first level technical support for personnel within the assigned area of responsibility via phone and through site visits as needed.
  • Acquaint customer personnel with the full capabilities of the equipment and/or systems for their immediate operational requirements.
  • Interfaces with local customer contacts with regards to site operations and service needs, maintaining solid customer liaison as the on-site customer representative.
  • Contacts and coordinates with internal functional groups for parts on an as required basis to insure optimal equipment operation.
  • Prepares and submits trip reports which include results and recommendations
  • May travel to other customer sites for extended periods of time to assist in or supervise the installation, maintenance and repair of complex and sophisticated issues on X-ray, CT baggage handling systems, metal detection systems, explosives and explosive trace detection systems, associated systems and peripheral equipment.
  • Coordinates with Program Manager to ensure most efficient service to the customer sites and proper prioritization of work performed. 
  • Prepared to travel with minimal notice on an as required basis to include overnight or extended stays at other site locations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities not described above that may be assigned with little to no notice.

     

  • Job Requirements

    This Test and Evaluation Technician position typically requires

    • Willingness to work non-standard hours including weekends and holidays.
    • Must have an active secret clearance,
    •  Must be team player with ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight. 
    • Must be available to travel on short notice, non-standard hours, travel on weekends, and assist other field sites as required.
    • Must be able to meet all requirements to obtain and maintain issued security badges, including a US Government Background Check.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required for effective interface with all contacts
    • Ability to effectively use Microsoft office products such as Word and Excel and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating environments
    • Must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and working above head.

    Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

    • Experience in a TSA environment and TSA Suitability a plus
