Vice President Strategic Client Development for UHC Public Sector is responsible for direct sales to public sector customers (municipality,school districts, labor and union) in the large group segment and strategic development of the broker/consultant channel who work in this market. The principle focus is the growth of new business with emphasis on ASO business to sophisticated customers and plan sponsors and an indirect responsibility for the retention of existing accounts. Additional responsibility for the development of best practices and performance in the Public Sector Customer Segment and works integrally with the local health plans and markets. Product Knowledge: Detailed understanding of all UHC products, services and solutions - Working knowledge of Enterprise/ancillary product lines. Healthcare Knowledge: Understands goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UHC. In-depth healthcare knowledge, understands important trends. Demonstrates knowledge of competitors strengths, weaknesses and strategies. Understands medical management and clinical operations and strategies Financial and Underwriting: Understands financing methodologies and strategies. Thorough knowledge of UHC underwriting principles and practices. Can explain and justify financial projections to external parties. Understands the drivers of fees and liabilities. Internal Operations and Capabilities: Understands UHC information systems capabilities and strategies. Ability to navigate UHC internal departments to produce positive service results for clients and the company. Extensive knowledge of internal resources, roles/responsibilities and processes. Relationship Building: Perceived as an leader in his/her sales office, health plan, the external market and within UHC. Ability to build and maintain strong client and producer relationships. Ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships. Ability to work well in cross-functional teams. Strong consultative sales skills. Ability to move a prospect through the UHC sales process. Ability to present strong arguments for consideration. Strong presentation skills using UHC incorporated techniques. Ability to influence and negotiate complex situations. Ability to deal with sophisticated customers and brokers/consultants. Ability to orchestrate and lead a diverse and complex team sale. Job Requirements
Minimum of 7-10 years successful healthcare experience consistently exceeding expectations/goals. •Track record of successful sales experience to the public sector including municipalities, school districts, higher education and labor union customers. •Strong consultative selling skills; sold healthcare products through direct sales or brokers. •Demonstrates broad based knowledge of the industry, market trends and UHC. •Exceptional networking capabilities. •Demonstrated experience in strategic business relationship development. •Sales insurance license maintained by law. •Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field. •Maintains valid driver's license. •Willingness to travel as required.
