Job Description Sustainable Development & Permaculture Careership - Laos This is not a paid postion About Us: You will be working with a grassroots project in the Laos countryside, aiming to set an example of sustainable development for the rest of the country. By implementing environmentally friendly farming practices (e.g. biogas, permaculture, mud brick), management systems and building methods, the project will minimise the use of natural resources and help preserve the local environment for future generations. Our main aims include;
  • To become an example of sustainable development in Laos.
  • To educate locals on sustainable practices in farming, building and use of natural resources.
  • To promote education to local children through free English lessons.
  • To create new jobs for local workers.
  • To promote Lao culture to international visitors.
  • Since the projects conception in 2008 we have hosted over 300 volunteers from all around the world. In that time we have taught English to the locals and many students from neighbouring villages including teenagers and young adults from a Hmong tribal village. We have also built a large community centre from mud bricks, constructed an organic restaurant that is a very popular stop amongst tourists, and built a weaving station that will be used to display local woven handicrafts.

    • Min age 18
    • Minimum 1 month commitment
    • Able to work in hot jungle climate and live in basic conditions
    • Good physical fitness
    • Motivation to work with animals and plants
    • Conversational English
    • Full travel & medical insurance
