Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in search of a Senior Systems Engineer - SCCM Experience in Costa Mesa, California (CA).Summary:The team is responsible for all windows patch management for the workstation level and essentially the "client engineering" team. This resource will be dedicated and responsible for monthly Microsoft security patching; MS releases security patches monthly and must be patched within 30 days. This role will be solely focusing on MS patches that come out monthly. One will be responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, and technical. The Team currently has a SCCM field engineers from Microsoft that is onsite 2 days per week so will be able to engage with that consultant and learn from the best of the best within the SCCM space!Current state:
  • They typically meet the mandatory 30-day patch requirements; Start with internal pilot with IS, then pre-pilot with workstations, then control pilot in 8 branches, then roll out
  • They have been forced to do the patch and move on - and have a big backlog of work
  • We received funding for part of security roadmap and will involve reporting, resolving issues that relates to patching
  • Future state:
  • Received funding for dedicated resource to focus on patch management as the need is ongoing
  • Need to set the process up that can be repeatable; responding to out of band patches, where are the flaws, where are the repetitive issues, who is patched and why not
  • Keep updated with MS releases as they come up and understand how a new patch may over rule an older one
