WC Claims Adjuster (California Certified - highly preferred)

 

Lumbermen’s Underwriting Alliance is a Property & Casualty insurance Company with offices located throughout the United States. The WC Claims Adjuster (California Certified - highly preferred) position is located in our Portland Regional Office.   

 

LUA provides property and casualty insurance inherent to the lumber and forest products industry in addition to other preferred risks, as well as workers’ compensation, predominately for Professional Employer Organizations. After more than 100 years in the business we remain one of the nations leading specialty P&C insurance providers.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To analyze mid and higher-level workers compensation claims to determine benefits due; to ensure ongoing adjudication of (lost time) claims within company and industry best practices; and to manage subrogation of claims and negotiate settlements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assigned case load of medium/high complexity and/or moderate exposure claims
  • Analyze claims, set reserves, determine compensability, pay benefits and settle claims within established dollar authority
  • Prepare claims for settlement and negotiate settlement with best outcome
  • Maximize utilization of company medical cost containment program
  • Manage and direct all cases to closure in the most efficient and effective way possible
  • Communicates with policyholders, injured workers and others in a professional and timely manner

    Job Requirements

     

    • California Certified (highly preferred)

    • California claims handling (highly preferred)

    • California Med-Only claims handling

    • Adjuster's license is required (please list all states)

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Full knowledge of workers´ compensation and current case law
