Job Description Job Description BAE Systems Combat Vehicles has openings for Material Handlers to support our Anniston VUOC Site. These positions are Union Represented. Position Summary:Facilitates the movement, packaging, shipping, storage and inventory control of material on the shop floor and warehouse in a safe and efficient manner. Position Responsibilities:INVENTORY CONTROL
  1. Tracks quantities of parts to be packaged
  2. Monitors on hand balances of shop floor locations for parts and supplies and notifies ATL of any shortages of required packaging supplies. Performs indirect functions as needed to ensure all necessary material is available when required
  3. Verifies accuracy of work and completes appropriate paperwork and computer transactions to ensure inventory accuracy and quality workmanship.
  4. Uses personal computer or other data acquisition devices (i.e. bar-code) to check or record data as required
  5. PACKAGING
  6. Understands and follows established work instruction to assure adherence to ISO standards and MMAS requirements.
  7. Performs packaging and crating functions associated with shipment of complex defense products
  8. Uses Auto-Bagger, requires knowledge of program to set up bag size, quantity and labeling
  9. Receives instructions and work orders from Planning and/or Packaging Engineering
  10. Refers to work guides or other work procedures to obtain appropriate packaging and shipment requirements
  11. Uses appropriate work guides to perform various packaging operations (i.e. cleaning, wrapping, packing and labeling), calculates weights and cubes as required. Notifies ATL or QA of damaged material or equipment
  12. Scans and prints labels or packing list and apply to proper crate, box or container
MATERIAL HANDLING
  1. Performs routine daily maintenance checks on material handling equipment
  2. Performs complex rigging and material moves using bridge cranes, jib cranes and fork lifts
  3. Handles materials to and from work area, using jib or overhead cranes or other material handling equipment as required
SHIPPING
  1. Performs banding, wrapping tagging, etc. for the safe and efficient movement, storage and preservation of material
  2. Performs palletizing and shrink-wrapping
  3. Performs loading of trucks
  4. Leads and coordinates all complex movement of work in process material for shipping
SAFETY
  1. Safely operates various types of material handling equipment
  2. Implements and maintains 6 S Principles and housekeeping standards in his/her work area.
  3. Understands and follows established safety rules and practices.
  4. Keeps work area safe and clean
Typical Education & Experience Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experienceRequired Skills and Education
  1. Work requires high school diploma or GED, in addition to training in Oxy-fuel cutting torches and plasma arc burning.
  2. Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
  3. Work requires physical dexterity necessary to work in small areas, ability to wear a respiratory device, and the ability to endure high temperature areas.
