Job Description Quality Engineer Job

EPC client is looking for a Welding Engineer/Welding Procedures Specialist to join their team in Kansas City, MO. This is a long term contract opportunity that could turn into a permanent job for the right person. You need 15+ years of relavant QA, QC, welding, welding inspection and welding procedures review experience supporting oil & gas plant EPC projects. Client prefers candidates that are local to Kansas City, but will consider candidates that are outside of the area.

Responsibilities for the Quality Engineer

  • Your main responsibility will be to perform a review of Supplier Submittals related to Welding Processes & Procedures for EPC projects in the oil & gas industry
  • Ensure these welding procedures meet industry standards and client project specifications
  • Review the specific procedures related to ASME codes section IX, VIII and I as well as piping codes B33.1 and B33.3
  • Verify client specific requirements above the industry codes
  • Requirements for the Quality Engineer

  • 15-30+ years of Quality Control, welding, welding inspection, & welding procedure review experience supporting refinery, chemiclal process plant or similar plant EPC projects
  • Extensive knowledge of governing codes, welding processes typically used in steel manufacturing, heat treating, shop fabrication methods, and both ferrous/nonferrous materials is required
  • Must have a working knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, heater tubes, and pumps typically used in the Oil, Gas, and Chemical industry
  • Must have a solid understanding of ASME section IX and AWS D1.1 codes and be familiar with ASME VIII, I and Piping Codes B33.1 & B33.3
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, is required as you will routinely communicate with Engineering, Project Teams, Clients, and Suppliers
  • The ideal candidate has some experience with software programs the write and review welding procedures (like C-Spec or ProWright)
  • Ideal candidate has welding experience in both a fabrication shop environment as well as out in the field on a construction site
  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification is a plus.
