Job Description

Responsible for all duties related to the Radiology Front End Process documentation including but not limited to pre-registration, screening and on-site registration, insurance requirements and eligibility, compliance and patient arrival functions. When required this position requires the collection of co-payment either and/or a referral to Financial Counseling. This position requires high levels of customer service with patients, visitors, physicians and hospital staff.  The incumbent will apply knowledge of insurance, privacy and medical terminology on a daily basis. Additional clerical responsibilities including telephone inquiries, mail distribution and retention of electronic documents will be assigned.
Education:     High School Graduate with specialized training in Medical Terminology.  Associate's Degree preferred.
Experience:    Experience in patient registration, insurance verification or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would demonstrate acquisition of the knowledge/skill required to perform the duties of this position.
Licensure:      None required.
Skills:              Excellent communication skills, oral and written. Ability to analyze data, perform multiple tasks and work independently. Must be able to develop and maintain professional, service oriented working relationships with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors. Must be able to understand and comply with policies and procedures.
Ability to concentrate on detailed work for prolonged periods of time.  Incumbent must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without effecting departmental flow. Ability to function under pressure of time demands.  Work includes but not limited to: using computer terminal, printers, copy machine, card embosser and imprinting equipment. Position requires ability to frequently perform moderately difficult manipulative and hand-eye coordination skills; walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods; see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises.  Position requires ability to constantly concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time.  Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time.
Worker must adjust to performing routine, repetitive tasks under specific supervision.  Employee may frequently be exposed to electro-magnetic radiation as in CRT's (VDT'S), unpleasant noises, patient contact (placing identification bracelet on patient).
