Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented SQL Administrator to join our team in the DC Metro area to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech. The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and sustainment of the SQL Server, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modeling. The data base server supports several enterprise applications.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:• Perform DBA activities, including, but not limited to: backup, restore, performance tuning, security management, capacity planning, standards development and enforcement, product upgrades and enhancements. • Maintain test, development and production environments. • Supplement admin duties with designing, developing, and administration of SQL Reports. • Develop documentation of processes and procedures, as needed. • Knowledge of designing and implementing medium to large scale SQL installations.• Must have 3-4 years SQL experience (Specifically SQL 2008 R2, as well as current SQL versions)• Strong current SQL knowledge and experience. • Good oral and written communication skills and ability to convey technical information, is desired• Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)• Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)• Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur• Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms• As new systems are brought in-house, choose whether to use clustering, log shipping, mirroring, or other technologies• Ability to install and configure new SQL Servers is desired• When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes• Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively.• Willingness to work after normal duty hours (nights and weekends) as needed.• Other duties as required.
Position Requirements:• Security+ CE certification is required• Experience in Database administration and good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows systems, including DNS, Group Policy, and PKI• Requires Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of related experience• Microsoft SQL 2000, 2008, 2012 MCSA or MCSE (Preferred) in SQL 2008 or later • CISSP or Security+CE Certification required• ITIL v3.0 or Foundation Certifications highly desired
Security Requirements: • U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD TS based upon a SSBI completed within the last 5 years. Must be willing to submit to a random polygraph
