Job Description

Summary

The Associate Over Dimensional/Over Weight Permit Specialist is responsible for duties related to permit/escort costs which include everything from ordering and logging permits/escorts, to paying the bills and filing and scanning. This position monitors daily overages, and verifies that Sammons permit tariff is being used.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in ordering permits as needed by phone, fax, and online based on information provided by drivers.
  • Works with drivers on routes, problems and regulations.
  • Sets up escorts as needed.
  • Gains familiarity with all oversize regulations and procedures.
  • Watches costs on every load for profitability.
  • Processes permit/escort bills for payment.
  • Accurately logs permits and escorts and verifies that there is enough money in the load to cover costs.
  • Special projects as designated by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED

Computer Skills

  • Strong proficiency in basic MS Office applications is needed.

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

  • Good telephone personality.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple phone calls and permit orders during busy times.
  • Ability to handle stress, listen to problems and find solutions.
  • Ability to function well with a team.
  • Willing to learn best procedures and follow directions.
  • Detail oriented, with ability to keep track of costs and to learn various state rules and procedures for oversize loads.
