Job Description


As a Lead Sales Associate, you will be responsible for the management and leadership of one of our BMC Mattress stores. This will include driving sales performance as well as ensuring standards are met across all areas of the store, from the customer experience, people development, maintaining operational standards, to supporting the necessary elements of building and developing our stores.

  • Properly complete all documents required for sales tracking (this includes the traffic counter and any other electronic/physical forms)
  • Ensure store is always clean and presentable as defined by management.
  • Willingness to bring forward new ideas or suggestions.
  • Responsible for all ordering, receiving, and managing of product and the associated reports and reconciliation.
  • Completing monthly physical inventory as required by policy and procedure.
  • Assist in mentoring and coaching Associates.
  • Local marketing tasks as defined by management, including but not limited to social media advertising (vehicle travel not required).
  • Assist in managing customer service follow-up.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate polices (reference cash handling, eod reports, store opening and closing procedures, discounting, etc.)
  • Obtain favorable reviews from customers on social media outlets. Monitor all social media reviews and assist in protecting brand image for their location.
  • Responsible for completing accurate monthly physical inventory as required by policy and procedure with ability to explain overages or shortages.
  • Required Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, motivate, and coach others in a retail setting.
  • Skilled at current best practice retail methods, procedures, and standards.
  • Demonstrated team player able to both lead and follow.
  • Flexibility in work schedule reflecting the needs and patterns of store hours.
  • Fluency with current retail software/computer systems.

    Education and Experience (May have equivalent combination of education and experience)

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position with hours of operations consisting of 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Saturday, and 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday. Working at least 40 hours a week with availability to work on weekends is a requirement of this position.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral visions, depth perception and ability to focus.


    Business travel will be required as needed to visit store locations and likely will be in the 25% range.

    Additional Compensation

    Hourly base pay plus commission based on individual monthly sales based off of store goals.
