Job Description Payroll Specialist (Shreveport) Processing of biweekly payroll for all agency employees (400+) Maintenance and editing of all ACCPAC payroll employee files Preparation and distribution of all manual checks (when needed) Distribution of all earnings statements via email after each payroll Processing and distribution of all garnishment checks Calculation of state and federal payroll taxes and make payments via electronic transfer Processing and distribution of all W-2 forms, as well as transmitting file to Social Security via internet Communication with agency management staff regarding payroll issues including post payroll reports, allocations, and auditing information Various other reporting for agency wide programs and Accounting staff Assist Staff Accountant II/Supervisor with special projects related to Payroll or other Accounting issues Maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic timekeeping system Monthly calculation of workers compensation and submitting payment online Send emails to supervisory staff regarding employee approvals of electronic timesheet after deadline, or non-approvals Assist Accounting Department in tracking issues with account coding on General Ledger pertaining to payroll Take calls for verification of employment for former and current employees Complete documentation for employees needing assistance with housing, food stamps, etc. Process retirement fund draft after each payroll Process monthly payments to United Way agencies of North and Central Louisiana Other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED Minimum of one year of payroll experience Strong computer skills Strong interpersonal skills Detail oriented
