Job Description

The Sales Support Specialist is a non-commissioned position that supports the sales function in the center.

  • Perform assigned tasks to support the sales function in the center and ensure that the required support documents are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Deliver Certificates of Medical Necessity ("CMNs") and any other appropriate paperwork to referral sources for their completion/approval.
  • Follow-up on outstanding CMNs to ensure that they are completed and submitted by the applicable referral source.
  • Request/obtain any other required documents to support that the applicable equipment/service is medically necessary under applicable payer guidelines.
  • Perform routine sales calls with identified referral sources.
  • Deliver portable oxygen tanks to discharge patients and complete/obtain appropriate documentation.
  • Initiate resolution to complaints from referral sources with appropriate management.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of necessary equipment/supplies in personal vehicle.
  • Understand and communicate coverage criteria to referral sources and patients, as applicable.
  • All functions are performed within the guidelines and policies of Lincare, including but not limited to, those in the Safety and Procedural Manuals.
  • Attends work on a regular and predictable basis.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Required Qualification and Experience:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree ("GED"). Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Driver License in-good-standing for worked-in state.
  • Minimum one year of experience in Durable Medical Equipment ("DME").
  • Must have and maintain a reliable personal vehicle to be used for business purposes (mileage reimbursement available) and maintain the required insurance coverage on said vehicle, at the employee's personal expense.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable interacting with patients and referral sources on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of Medicare coverage guidelines and documentation requirements including CMNs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating procedures.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and drive an automobile. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally life and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
