Caring for the smallest and most fragile lives yields some of the greatest personal and professional rewards. This is what you"ll experience when you join the family-centered Nursery Intensive Care Unit (NyICU)(Neonatal ICU) (NICU) at St. Joseph"s Hospital and Medical Center.

The working environment:
Serving families throughout the southwest, our 65-bed tertiary care NyICU provides care for infants during weeks 23 to 42 weeks of gestation. From delivery to discharge, we provide a unique continuity of care for these special patients and maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 based on patient acuity.

The Patient Care Technician performs patient related care tasks (direct care, bathing, oral care, feeding). Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides direct patient care under supervision of Nurse. Obtains and records patient vital signs. Monitors and records daily intake and output. Obtains specimens, including non-invasive body fluids and blood specimens. Monitors and performs actions to decrease patient length of stay including but not limited to: use of computerized Bed Tracking System, performing timely designated discharge duties, and communicating discharge information to appropriate staff. Assists Physician/Nurse with diagnostic tests, clinical procedures, and other tasks as requested. Communicates patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to supervising Nurse or Physician. Documents all interactions in patient"s medical record. The PCT may assist nursing in the retrieval and delivering of medications per the unit standard.

Located in Phoenix, Az, this position is critical to the success of St. Joseph"s Hospital Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Completion of C.N.A. program or current nursing student with one clinical semester completed
  • HS/GED

  • Preferred:
    Six months C. N. A. acute care experience Completion of C.N.A. program or current nursing student with one clinical semester completed.
