Job Title: Transportation Supervisor
Location: FreshPoint Oklahoma in Tulsa, OK
Reports to: Transportation Manager
General Purpose of the Position: This is an exempt, supervisory position, consisting of both management and driver skills. This is an Operations position responsible for supervising activities associated with Delivery. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: management and direction of delivery staff, compliance with government regulations and the safety and security of the delivery team, management of warehouse cooler for produce and operation of a forklift. The position requires well-rounded administrative skills in addition to an outstanding customer service skill set; working in accordance with state and DOT regulations and following Safety Preferred Work Methods. A CDL license is required for this position.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Two or Four year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or similar major preferred.
2+ years Supervisory/Management experience required
Must possess excellent oral and written English language skills
Spanish bi-lingual speaking and written skills preferred
Valid CDL – A or B class.
One year of commercial driving experience.
No accidents or DUI convictions within the past 3 years.
Must be able to pass a DOT physical and get a DOT medical card
(1) year produce experience preferred
Pallet jack/rider jack/forklift experience preferred
Working knowledge of MS Office products
AS400 experience preferred
Supervises the daily work and safety of Delivery Drivers, including adherance to standard operating procedures, adherance to planned routes and providing safe and efficient customer service.
Ensures the accurate and efficient routing of deliveries for all customers.
Ensures Delivery Drivers’ compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA, etc.) and ensures that electronic logs are kept current and accurate.
Supervises labor hours and prepares work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed.
Communicates with Sales Management to collaboratively resolve any customer or delivery opportunities or issues.
Maintains associate relations and driver safety through daily department and/or pre-shift meetings; maintains on-going interaction; keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures.
Monitors associate morale; and submits and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.
Interprets, trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures.
Coordinates efforts with Safety Managers to aid in training and conducting associate observations.Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
Performs management functions of staff selection, development, discipline and performance reviews in collaboration with the Transportation Manager and HRBP.
Performs the duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed; this includes driving and delivering on established routes.
Aids Buying Department in maintaining inventory in the on-site cooler.
Places produce in the cooler and rotates as necessary/according to instructions.
Helps load and unload produce in/out of trucks from the cooler.
Handle company equipment properly; follow all traffic rules & regulations, company safety guidelines and Preferred Work Methods at all times.
Report accidents and injuries immediately and/or any damage to the vehicle or equipment.
Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections – daily fleet inspection.
Coordinates required repairs with proper departments as necessary.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds; infrequently lift up to 80 pounds.Lifting product/cases to and from heights ranging from floor to knee, waist, shoulder and overhead.
Ability to safely maneuver a dolly/hand truck UP/DOWN ramps with approximately 200-300 pounds of product.
Use hands and fingers to peel and stick labels on cases.
Ability to unload a large shipment alone and without mechanical aid
Perform frequent bending, squatting, pushing/pulling, pivoting and climbing IN/OUT of trucks
Ability to work in a refrigerated warehouse as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit
Must be able to work in confined spaces
Ability to hear accurately and speak/enunciate clearly
Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close and distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
Must possess a high level of physical endurance, energy and strength
Ability to work in varying weather conditions; cold, heat, wind, etc.
Primarily an office environment.Driving an established delivery route outside sometimes occurs with variable weather and traffic conditions. Refrigerated warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from 25-55 degrees.
