Job Description
Responsibilities: A Kforce client is seeking a Linux / UNIX System Administrator in Detroit, Michigan (MI).The Linux / UNIX System Administrator is part of a team of system administrators charged with maintaining, monitoring, and owning the Linux / UNIX Server and storage infrastructure for the company IT software development lab. The System Administrator installs and configures latest software updates and security packages according to GM standards. This person documents and maintains processes for application installation and patching, performance improvement, availability of business server platforms, and troubleshooting technical issues. The system administrator proactively monitors all development infrastructure, and maintains support according to published support levels.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related discipline or equivalent experience
At least 3 years of experience in Linux / UNIX system administration
In-depth knowledge of operating systems, hardening of servers, and data center operations standards
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with virtualized products (VMware, vCenter, and vSphere)
Experience maintaining and administering SuSe Linux Servers in a VMware environment
Experience maintaining and administering Sun Solaris Servers in a corporate environment
Novel Certified Linux Administrator or similar certification
