Job Description Senior Business Analyst- Point-of-Sale

Volt is currently assisting with the recruiting efforts for a Senior Business Analyst position to help develop sophisticated Point-Of-Sale (POS) system for our client's new project.

As a Senior Business Analyst, this person will provide analysis, functional and technical specifications for the development of customized applications for the Point-Of-Sale (POS) system. This individual will gather requirements from internal business partners and translate the requirements to specifications to be used by the development team. Knowledge of UML and creating wireframes and workflows is required. They will actively participate in the SDLC by providing required documentation, compliance, secure coding and source control procedures to design and implement solutions.

Essential Job Functions (includes but is not limited to):

  • Develops detailed functional and technical specifications based on communication with the client.
  • Develops detailed software and database design specifications based on functional and technical specifications; utilizes one or more development languages.
  • Ability to analyze detail design specifications, provide feedback, and perform the work required from the design.
  • Review functional design specifications to produce functional design and/or detailed software design, which optimizes resource usage, considers the customer upgrade path, and clearly enhances system controls and integrity.
  • Writes reports to communicate functional design, detailed design, entity relation diagrams, data flow diagrams, general processing instructions, testing recommendations, documentation recommendations, system limitations, and miscellaneous other internal documentation.
  • Analyzes requirements and clarify scope and breadth of work tasks with business analysts and project managers.
  • Provides work direction and guidance to software engineers peers.
  • Reviews code and perform an adequate level of unit, functional and integrated testing to ensure quality standards are attained.
  • Learns and employs knowledge of the business segment targeted by the software application.
  • Reviews user documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Attend design review meetings to assist in identifying design issues and programming methods that will improve work productivity and product quality.
  • Participate in process assessment programs and make recommendations to improve software development methods.
  • Job RequirementsKnowledge, Skill and Abilities Required:

    • Educational attainment equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
    • Five or Ten year of functional specification development with client interaction.
    • Knowledge of Project Management principles
    • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and related methodologies, best practices
    • Knowledge of C#, C++, VB 6, and VB.NET.
    • Translate the detail design to perform programming tasks to complete the project as required with no supervision. Able to write designs for small to large complex projects.
    • Translate functional requirements to technical requirements to produce and implement the detail design, performing impact analysis of detail design decisions in one or more modules.
    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills
    • Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
