Job Description Job Responsibilities:Ship construction surveyors are responsible for the layout of plate, unit, and ship construction control lines, installation and alignments of major equipments, and the monitoring of the ship in its various stages of construction to ensure construction and fit-up tolerances are met. Surveyors work in all areas of the shipyard from initial plate layout through ship delivery. The surveyors work with all trades, levels of the organization and with Accuracy Control Engineers to provide required data to support the construction process.•
Job RequirementsRequired Education:AS or BS degree in surveying preferredStrong math skills and knowledge of geometry and trigonometry required Required Work Experience:Prior experience in shipbuilding or large manufacturing plants preferredAbility to operate optical levels, transits, lasers, and theodolitesAbility to use surveying software preferred Unique/Additional Requirements: Ability to perform in fast paced industrial environmentGood written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a teaming environmentAbility to read and understand procedures, work instruction, drawings and blueprintAbility to work with cross functional trades a plusMust have the ability to obtain a security clearance
