Job Description

Overview:
Provide assistance and guidance to Bunge North America's (BNA) Grain Business Unit leadership and employees in the pursuit of a zero-incident culture.  The successful candidate will develop and oversee safety programs and ensure compliance with all federal and state requirements. 

Essential Functions:

• Plan, direct and implement organization safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy and zero-incident work environment
• Support line management on their necessary leadership of safety improvement
• Monitor safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations in the US and Canada.
• Develop and implement programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, including Confined Space Entry, Lock, Tag & Try, Electrical Safety and others
• Oversee development of annual Grain Business Unit safety plan and implementation of items contained therein
• Track injuries and equipment damage events, provide guidance on investigation and prevention of recurrence of incidents
• Develop policies and procedures to reduce or eliminate high potential exposures
• Responsible for coordination, consolidation, and distribution of pro-active safety metrics and injury frequency reports.
• Responsible for leading short term safety program execution and longer term safety continuous improvement program vision development for Grain Business Unit
• Responsible for inspiring others to possess and demonstrate a passion towards safety
• Participate as a member of the BNA Safety Council
• Support the Loss Prevention Control inspection process, with emphasis on fire prevention and fire protection equipment
• Prepare studies and analyses of incident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies
• Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs

Job Requirements• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field
• 5 to 7 years of safety experience or related grain handling experience
• Demonstrated success in the application of safety standards and compliance with safety regulations
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong facilitation/presentation skills with the ability to influence others
• Proven leadership within a team-oriented environment
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and related business software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes
• Ability to travel over 40% of the time
