Job Description

Environmental & Safety consists of performing various duties to promote and ensure the health and safety of employees, protecting them from accidents and environmental hazards and ensuring compliance with regulations.Supports senior managers in overall operations of the organization and provide leadership in resolving problems. Participate in meetings and conferences to establish Company position, respond to inquiries and resolve difficult problems. Ensure compliance with established programs and policies.

Typical Duties/Responsibilities for Environmental and Safety may include, but are not limited to, the following:Collaborate and interface with internal and external sources on matters of serious impact to the Company. Direct the investigation and resolution of complaints, accidents or other areas of concern. Introduce responsive action plans, monitor progress and results to prevent recurrence or reduce impact. Communicate all health and safety initiatives, processes and procedures throughout the organization to ensure all persons have a common and uniform understanding. Compile statistics and prepare reports.Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of environmental managementsystems in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001, covering all activities and assist other functions within the site in this process.Help reduce environmental impacts by planning and implementation ofcontinual improvement projects, e.g. to reduce the use of energy, to reducedirect and indirect emissions and to generate less waste.Participate and conduct regular audits (internal and external) of the site’s environmental and safety performance and report results regularly to the management team.Maintain awareness of regulatory changes that may impact operations and the workforce and recommend appropriate actions. Introduce new systems, processes, and programs to improve operations and ensure customer satisfaction.

Requires thorough knowledge of Environmental and Safety operations and practices and of related regulations. Requires ability to lead and coordinate activities, analyze and resolve complex issues and communicate effectively with various levels of staff. Failure to make appropriate recommendations and decisions may adversely impact the organization's effectiveness and reputation, affect morale and result in employee complaints and legal actions. TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Environmental or related field and 5 to 8 years of experience. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
