Job Description

Duties of the role include:

  • Proofing Artwork: Check all artwork from internal and external design sources to ensure all elements are present and consistent with past-printed packaging and line-extension characteristics. Ensure art is compliant with the print vendor's press capabilities and customer profiles.
     
  • Proofing Prepress: Verify that final proofs created by color separators are consistent with the art approved and submitted by Creative Services - QA. This includes proper sizing, graphics accuracy, color count, consistency with past-printed packages (number of colors, common plates, consistent color separations)
     
  • Verifying Print Quality: Regularly review actual printed samples of art approved for production for the purpose of monitoring consistency and quality of our print vendors. Involves collection of data and offering constructive feedback to our print vendors.
     
  • Manage and maintain existing dieline catalog and create new dielines in Adobe Illustrator for production as necessary. Manage and maintain printer spec database by staying aware of print vendors' and prepress suppliers' capabilities. Regularly revisit individual printer specs to stay aware of what they can do and what new capabilities they can offer. This is to be more of an in-house representative of the printer to better inform/coach staff.
     
  • Press Checks: Periodically attend press-side checks to assure challenging designs are printed properly. Act as a representative for Schreiber's customers and Creative Services to guarantee high-quality print.
     
  • Job Requirements

    We're looking for leaders who thrive in fast-paced environments. The successful candidate will have:

    • Associate's degree in Graphic Communications or related field
       
    • Minimum 3 years' experience in prepress or printing
         
    • Experience in Mac platform, Adobe Illustrator
       
    • This position requires a high degree of knowledge in prepress and trapping, and knowledge of presswork and printing. Candidate must understand the mechanics of file build, color separations and related processes. Must be extremely detail oriented. Having the ability to correctly communicate using the appropriate graphic terminology to both prepress specialists and customers is absolutely essential. An understanding of packaging dielines is a plus. Ability to work independently and prioritize workload is desired.
