Job Description The position participates in recruitment and admissions activities, is responsible for the academic advising of new and continuing students and coordinates the student finance process by interviewing students, determining eligibility, ensuring all paperwork is completed and forwarding to e-processing. Provides excellent customer service to students and works to overcome student issues/problems to promote student retention and success.

  • Provides academic advisement and counseling for students.
  • Provides pre-enrollment advisement to applicants and develops personalized curriculum plan.
  • Analyzes various reports to identify academic issues affecting student progression and develops pro-active responses to address concerns.
  • Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of college programs.
  • Accurately communicates academic policies and regulations to prospective and current students.
  • Maintains accurate admission and retention information.
  • Attends and contributes to college committees, community recruitment activities, and other relevant professional groups and events.
  • Works with outside agencies in the referral and advisement of students.
  • Facilitates and tracks acquisition of all required documentation.
  • Works with Assessment and Evaluation Center to facilitate student applications and manages transcript evaluation process, including performing informal transfer credit evaluations.
  • Counsels students on all matters of financial aid and analyzes each particular case in order to develop a comprehensive education financial plan.
  • Assists students with completing financial aid applications and provides other financial aid support services to all prospective, new and continuing students.
  • Follows-up on all items preventing or delaying disbursement of financial aid to ensure that students' funding is disbursed during or before the end of the first session.
  • Collects initial tuition payment.
  • Insures the effective execution of all student education financial plans. Contacts students who are delinquent in meeting financial obligations to the College and collects accounts receivable.
  • Insures or performs refund/billing tasks including 3rd party billing, requesting refunds, and recording transactions in Chamberlain systems.
  • Generates reports and collects information to provide initial and complete financial support.
  • Works in cooperation with DeVry student finance operations and coordinates activities with admissions and academic advisors.
  • Determines if student accounts should be placed on financial hold for registration and places or removes financial holds as needed.
  • Responds to student phone and e-mail inquires and utilizes various methods to communicate and follow up with students with a superior customer service attitude.
  • Responds to and resolves escalated student issues in a timely manner. Provides information regarding resolution to students and other Chamberlain staff involved in handling the student's issue.
  • Participates in student activities, including but not limited to answering inquiries for information, participating in campus open houses and orientations, and attending career fairs.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of related experience or training required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via telephone, computer and person-person.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
