database design & development, production support and root cause analysis, database administration, performance tuning, replication, data warehousing, backup & recovery.Database Development oConsult with customers and developers to determine needs and databaserequirementsoMapping out the conceptual design for a planned database in outline and refining this design so that it can be translated into a specific data modeloCreate logical design and data model from user specifications for in-house applications and customizations to purchased applicationsoPlanning data-flows for a new or revised databaseoCreate physical design to meet system storage requirements and document new databasesoDevelop store procedures to provide proper application data access and logicoManage Database SSIS code, SP's, change management, and moves between production, test and development environmentsoPerform data conversions and maintain data integrity oUpgrade databases for major applications.oThorough DB testing with appropriate test plans Database Administration & MaintenanceoMicrosoft SQL-Server administration oPowerShell scriptingoResponsible for database server architecture and design as well as server environment recommendations for overall infrastructure solution including disk storage capacity planningoInstall, upgrade, configure business application and database software on Windows & support Microsoft SQL-Server, IIS, .Net and Java J2EEoImplement and maintain schedule for maintenance jobs in order to maintain the health, performance, and integrity of the database systemsoResponsible for availability and reliability of business data stored in production application databases, ensuring integrity of dataoMaintain database and data recoverability, ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly oResponsible for database alerts, maintenance plans and scriptsoManage database security and control access permissions and privilegesoCommunicating regularly with technical, application development, business, and operational staff, to ensure the security and confidentiality of dataoCommissioning and installing new applicationsoSupport database connectivity using SSIS, replication, linked servers, ODBC, JDBC and OLEDBDatabase support for applications, both in-house development and purchased applications.oResolve production database problems with team members and whenever possible, implement improvements that will prevent reoccurrence of problemsoProvide support & training to development teamoParticipate in the correction of production data issuesoRespond to issues requestsoResolve user access & permissions issuesDocumentation & ProcessesoReview of SP's for performance, logic and conformance to standardsoDevelop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata')oPerform product evaluation that includes DBMS engines as well as tool sets that support them in the development and production environmentoProvide continued oversight of the build promotion process and control of the production DB environmentEssential skills and qualifications:At least 3 years MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 database programming and admin experience Strong skills & experience in performance tuning - Index, Table, queries, SprocsExcellent problem solving skillsExperience with Triggers, Stored Procedures, SQL Server Queries.Experience in the following technologies - replication, data warehousing and scalabilityOpen and accommodating of offshore resources and willingness to mentor and learn from these individualsExperience with establishing and overseeing formal build promotion processes including use of source control and DB source control best practicesAbility to think logically and analyze business process requirements and accurately convert them to DB structure design and logicExcellent oral and written communication skills Ability to effectively multi-task and effectively meet deadlines within a dynamic, fast paced and challenging environmentEffective working on teams, within and outside of functionNon-Essential skills and qualifications:Associates or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field preferredPowerShell scriptingExperience with Service Broker a plusExperience in object-oriented programmingAdditional skills and experience in Java, J2EE, JBoss, .NET, localization, data warehousing, workflow, document imaging.Programming background in VB.NET, ASP.NET, HTML, XML, Java Script, MS IIS, Microsoft Visual Studio and SVN.
