Reporting directly to the Center Director, the Assistant Center Director will be responsible for assisting the Center Director in:

  • Operating the Language Center (and will assume responsibility for operations in the absence of the Center Director)
  • Ensuring the quality of student services
  • Ensuring the quality of the curriculum
  • Ensuring compliance with Department of Homeland Security regulations and policies
  • Ensuring the Language Center is known and respected by referral sources and other appropriate parties
  • Ensuring good personnel relations and compliance with Human Resource policies and procedures
  • Submitting required reports and data to the Center Director, District Director and Headquarters
  • Maintaining a good relationship with the host institution or facility landlord
  • Maintaining a clean, attractive, comfortable facility for staff and students
  • Assisting with the fiscal operations of the Language Center
  • Ensuring the Center funds and property are secure and accounted for
  • Job Requirements

    • College graduate, with MA preferred. Courses in business management, cross-cultural awareness, counseling, and ESL preferred
    • Minimum 2 years managing, including responsibility for hiring and evaluating personnel, preferably in an ESL or educational program
    • Service-oriented, having the ability to relate well to a wide range of cultural groups and to be a willing and effective promoter of ELS to prospective and current clients
    • Goal-oriented, a hands-on manager, and able to identify the need for– and initiate– action plans to continuously improve the services provided
