The Automotive Camera group of the Component Solutions Business Division (CSBD) of Sony Electronics, currently has an opening for a Sr. Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) - Automotive Camera. In this role, you will support the design and analysis of automotive vision systems, ensuring products meet customer technical requirements/timing and follow customer specific processes.  The ideal candidate will be able to build productive internal and external working relationships; provide design information to drafting for packaging documentation; and may direct or support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.

The Sr. Engineer will be responsible for facilitating all technical aspects for automotive camera projects between US-based customers and Sony.  The individual will function as primary liaison with customer engineering and program teams for entire program cycles.  The candidate will also troubleshoot quality problems and coordinate between customer QA, factory and Sony.  The individual will be expected to maintain and manage supplier program team meetings, action items, and reports.  The candidate will also be expected to assist other CSBD personnel (both engineering and marketing) in driving projects/programs as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is required
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of related engineering experience 
  • Must have expertise in use of TeamCenter, EWO’s, GQTS, APQP tools, and other customer applications 
  • Experience in 2D/3D CAD systems, with product design experience in Unigraphics/NX  desirable 
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills 
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to accommodate global time zones 
  • Previous Automotive Industry experience is required 
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment 
  • On-site factory production launch support experience is desired 
  • Must be willing to travel internationally and domestically (10%) 
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-cultural, and hands-on environment is desired
