Job Description UTC Climate, Controls & Security is the leading provider of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security solutions. AREA OF EXPERTISE: Responsible for technical support of residential split system cooling HVAC equipment, small packaged products and their associated controls. Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to leverage leadership, decision-making abilities and technical aptitude to assist in meeting customer needs. Foundational skills for this role include project management, public speaking, general engineering aptitude and general business management skills. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Work closely with product managers, engineers and factories to provide application solutions to distributors, dealers and/or customers to help increase sales, revenue and margin.- Maintain and/or identify product application strategies and tools including competitive comparisons, feature/benefit value, product gap analysis, and sales tools creation. - Develop pre-sale technical materials that aid in the selection, application and sales of residential split systems and packaged products. - Clearly articulate product features and value in public speaking events such as distributor, dealer, sales and recruitment meetings.- Research, propose and execute product modification projects from conception through launch. - Develop a thorough understanding of the residential cooling industry, the companys products and sales channels.- Establish positive working relationships with the field sales force and be viewed as an expert regarding all product sales and application opportunities. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: - Responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline.- Makes significant contributions to the department by applying knowledge of one or more functional areas. - Works with moderate guidance on projects with short-term focus.- Develops a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and role - continuing to develop specialized knowledge.
Job RequirementsTYPICAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: - AA/AS degree with 5-10+ years experience - BA/BS degree with 2-5+ years experience - MA/BMS degree with 0-2+ years experienceQUALIFICATIONS: - tickets to entry (E), preferred (P), ideal (I)- (E) Background or experience in engineering- (E) Strong sense of urgency, quality, self-initiative, sense of ownership and customer satisfaction orientation- (E) Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to pull data from assorted sources and synthesis in both graphic and verbal format, so that it is easily understood by the target audience- (E) Superior follow-up and follow-through skills- (E) Ability to work in self-directed manner across multiple business units to identify needs of the organization and/or customer, articulate necessary proposals and see projects through to completion- (E) Ability to learn quickly; apply and extrapolate to other functional areas and adapt to changing business priorities - (E) Team oriented perspective; able to work well and contribute with other points of view - (E) Fluent skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)- (P) Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities- (I) Understanding of residential split system applications and market place dynamics- (I) Must have a clear understanding of basic marketing principles- (I) Prior background or experience in HVAC industry ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:The incumbent is this role will be responsible for complying with UTC's Code of Ethics, Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policy and applicable regulatory and Company rules and requirements.
