AREA OF EXPERTISE: Design and development of split system units, both indoor and outdoor, with particular emphasis on an ability to interface with external vendors and suppliers. The successful candidate will possess an ability to ensure that the suppliers output meets and/or exceeds our quality, durability, performance requirements, particularly in situations where the supplier has ownership for the design of the product.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): - Engaged in heat exchanger design and refrigerant circuiting to meet engineering goals.- Contribute to the team or department by applying refrigeration knowledge, working closely with manufacturing and system engineering.- Assist in directing lab technicians in all aspects of performance testing, reliability testing and agency testing requirements. - Partner with senior engineers in similar role for all systems engineering tasks related to fan coil units.- Will require good communication skills to work with others on design teams to understand and translate design and process engineering requirements into product line design components and sub-systems.- Will work with quality/ reliability to implement key metrics into the design of the product and ensure all reliability design goals are achieved. - Resolve routine questions/ conflicts and refer to senior engineers or appropriate functions when unable to reconcile issues.LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:- Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project- Contributes to their team or department by applying their knowledge of one or more functional areas- Fully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from others- Has in depth knowledge of the discipline and role
Job Requirements
EDUCATION: The ideal candidate will possess a 4 year BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, w/4-7+ years' experience as a refrigeration or HVAC systems engineer, or Masters of Mechanical Engineering with specialization in heat transfer and thermodynamics with 2-5 years' experience.QUALIFICATIONS: - Proven track record of refrigeration system design and development; or appliance or component product development. - Use of Industry-wide accepted refrigeration and/or system engineering tools.- Knowledge of database product management tools and product development processes.- Experience conducting component selection.- Ability to match indoor and outdoor products based on technical specifications and energy efficiency.- Experience with performance testing and rating, including agency approval. - Ability to write reliability and quality specifications.- Experience working in a team environment with support groups (product quality, testing).- Ability to interface with external vendors (e.g. component and sub-assembly suppliers).- Ability to write technical specifications.- Proven track record of advanced product management skills.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: - Strong understanding of EH&S Practices and Policies, Ethics Practices and A.C.E. Concepts.- Proven capacity to self-direct/motivate with a vision toward overall product goals.- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.- Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.- Proven ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize processes.
