Job Description JOB SUMMARYResponsibilities are divided between Chargemaster Coordinator (approximately 60% of the work) and Charge Audit Coordinator (approximately 40%). The Chargemaster Coordinator responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of the hospital wide charge master which is made up of approximately 15,000 lines. Charge Audit Coordinator responsibilities include reviewing charge audit system reports and auditing charts/works.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)1. Ensures Accuracy of Chargemaster:a. Employs electronic auditing tools to monitor the charge master for set up errors and compliance with current and future regulations.b. Monitors the charge master for consistency with the pricing policy between departments.c. Monitors and manages monthly error reports and coordinates corrections with user departments.d. Periodically reviews CPT code descriptions to charge master listing for consistency.e. Works to identify charge master improvements that reduce daily failed bill and claim issues.f. Reconciles STAR charge master pharmacy section to Pharmacy MAK for consistency in drug listings between the two.g. Monitors Federal and commercial bulletins for HCPCS code changes and additions and billing rule changes that may affect billing functions of the hospital.2. Manages Chargemaster table:a. Acts as the contact point and resource for all departments regarding the charge master table and is responsible for all charge master additions and changes.b. Sets up and manages all charge master approval paths (approximately 150).3. Charge Audit Coordinator:a. Reviews charge audit system reports for potentially missed charges;b. Audits charts/works with revenue departments to validate missing charges;c. Ensures charge corrections are processed either by processing charge adjustments or coordinating action through the specific department.4. Other duties:a. Lends expertise/backs up billing edit correction processes for multiple revenue departments.b. Job RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS" Education Background" Associate's Degree in related field strongly preferred." Licensure, Registration, CertificationCertified as a Professional Coder or Certified Professional Coder-Hospital" Special Training/Skills" Demonstrated aptitude for attention to detail in complex procedures." Strong time management and organization skills." Able to work independently and solve problems, as well as collaborate and share knowledge with team members." Effective written and verbal communication skills." Requires good skills in office computer applications, basic math, typing." Demonstrated knowledge in coding management, coding compliance, internal coding audit and data quality management." Work Experience" At least two years of coding management experience required or at least five years of outpatient billing experience required." 1-3 years of Chargemaster build knowledge strongly preferred.
