Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE -The Senior Manager External Communications and Social Media will be responsible for driving communications and social media efforts externally for The Home Depot. This includes strategic collaboration, tactical execution and measurement of PR and social media efforts. Objectives include, supporting merchandising and marketing priorities, growing engagement, as well as driving traffic and awareness.MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders (e.g., Merchandising, Marketing, PR, Social.)
Responsible for effectively driving partnerships internally and externally in the organization to include Division Presidents, SVP's and Marketing managers, as well as Marketing and Merchants to align communication campaigns to the business.
Advise and make strategic recommendations on traditional and social media integration into business priorities, goals and objectives; share knowledge with key stakeholders in the organization.
Collaborate with marketing to further build out the PR and social media programs
Use excellent presentations skills to regularly Support Division Presidents for all relevant media events, becoming the subject matter expert in the digital domain.
Ensure that campaigns are delivered on-time and within budget and that proper measurements are applied to determine the effectiveness of PR and Social spend and resource
Design and execute the communications strategy for PR and Social campaigns, including developing editorial calendars, positioning and messaging.
Explore and evaluate emerging social media opportunities and tools to build strategies and proposals for implementing effective Social Media campaigns to drive the communication strategy for the organization.
Secure media coverage and interviews in national and regional media.NATURE AND SCOPE -
Report to Director of External Communications and Social Media.
Accountable for direct supervision and work activities of others.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must pass Background Check.EDUCATION REQUIRED -The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job. YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 08 PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -3-4 years online marketing experience with a strong focus on Web 2.0 Technologies.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Understands social media channels; ability to build and maintain a content distribution network by way of social medal channels.
Has excellent written communications skills both written and verbal.
A pragmatic and professional nature. Able to establish and meet deadlines and to establish clear priorities quickly. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to handle a heavy work load.
A highly-motivated, hands-on professional with a personal reputation for integrity and ethics.
Able to synthesize complex and sensitive materials into compelling and persuasive content that will connect and impact the intended audiences.
