Devereux's Mapleton Program, located in Malvern, PA (just 40 minutes from Philadelphia, PA) is seeking a Full Time Direct Support Professional Leaders to work 7am - 3pm, 3pm-11pm (with an every other weekend rotation), or a Weekend intensive shift Saturday and Sunday from 7am-11pm, plus an 8 hours shift on Monday. This position will work in our Eagleview Residential Program.
As a Direct Support Leader you will be responsible for the Direct Care of individuals, plus being a mentor to Direct Support Staff. This position may involve working with a child/adolescent with Disruptive behavior disorders including: conduct, oppositional defiant, attention deficit hyperactivity, post-traumatic stress, intermittent explosive, and affective disorders or History of sexual/physical abuse, school refusal, psychotic symptoms and fears/anxieties interfering with social functioning, moderate to severe psychiatric disorders, Neurological impairments, developmental disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders & Aspergers.
Available Hours for this position are: 7am - 3pm, 3pm-11pm with an every other weekend rotation or a Weekend Intensive position working 7am -11pm, plus an 8-hour shift during the week.

As a Direct Support Leader, your responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
1. Providing direct care services in accordance with program schedule and individualized treatment plan. Apply approved behavior management techniques designed to encourage appropriate social behavior. Serve as a positive role model by providing an example for acceptable behavior, language, and dress.
2. Provide direct supervision of assigned clients during on and off campus. Responsible for the whereabouts, safety, and general welfare of assigned clients.
3. Utilize appropriate and approved therapeutic interactions skills with clients (e.g., New Directions techniques in areas to include praise, making requests, warnings, and facilitating transitions).
4. Utilize crisis physical intervention techniques appropriate to the degree of threat to the safety of the client and others and in accordance with Devereux Crisis Prevention Intervention (CP/I) standards
5. Observe and report in a timely fashion noticeable changes in client behaviors and/or health conditions to the appropriate supervisor and/or interdisciplinary treatment team member (i.e. Nurse, Physician, Primary Therapist, etc.).
6. Provide accurate, timely, and consistent documentation of client behaviors.
7. Serve as mentor for new staff during their orientation period as well as assisting in the further skills development of co-workers to include those in disciplinary status.
8. Serve as the lead for the evening activities program. Assists in the development and implementation of clubs and/or special activities. Take primary lead of at least one activity/club (e.g., intramurals, canteen, hobbies, etc.). Organizes and runs community meetings.
9. Serve on the unit/program safety and risk management team. Focus on hazard surveillance. Complete weekly safety checks and monthly fire drills.
10. Annual Training and certifications remain up to date and complete.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, which includes sociology, psychology, criminal justice, etc. AND one (1) year of human service experience OR two (2) years of direct care experience and a high school diploma or GED plus 12 semester credit hours in sociology, psychology, criminal justice, special education, etc. from an approved educational program.

Additionally, you must be able to complete eight days of new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.
Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
