Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist’s role is to strategically design and implement BI software and systems. This includes gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out BI solutions to end users. The Business Intelligence Specialist is also responsible for ensuring high levels of BI availability through support functions and in-depth testing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining complex or highly complex server-based Data Warehouse systems.
Defines user interfaces and functional specifications.
Responsible for verifying accuracy of data, and the maintenance and support of the data warehouse.
Provides support to all Penn Foster divisions/departments for their Data Warehouse-based information needs.
Excellent interpersonal skills required to successfully interact with non-technical business users.
Well-developed business sense and strong leadership skills required.
Requires the ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
Technical Skills:
Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling.
Experience with tier-one applications, databases, and data warehouses, such as SAP Business Objects, IBM ShowCase, Oracle Essbase, DB2, and SQL Server.
Expertise in Business Objects tools, such as Web Intelligence, Dashboards, Analysis for MS Office, Explorer, and BO Universe design.
Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Windows products including Windows 7, SharePoint, MS Office 2010, MS Project 2010, MS Visio 2010.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel 2010 including pivot tables and power pivot.
Demonstrated ability with IBM ShowCase Warehouse Builder or equivalent ETL tools.
In-depth technical experience with IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Proficiency in business analysis, event modeling, data modeling including dimensional modeling, logical and physical database design, database optimization, load strategy design including transformation, loading and cleansing.
Background in statistical models and/or predictive analytics a plus.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field Experience: 5 or more years of experience in the area of Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing Other Requirements:

Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
