UI Designer

The UI Designer is a domain expert that provides user interface guidance and work across all of PORTIA’s development efforts, to ensure that our solutions have a consistent, modern UI that addresses client workflow needs. The UI Designer collaborates with Product Owners to create designs that enhance functional requirements, works in conjunction with software developers to ensure that designs are well-executed and that PORTIA is developing software using appropriate UI infrastructure and architecture, and interacts with clients to understand workflow requirements and develop designs that exceed their expectations.
The UI Designer also performs other duties as requested.

Functional Area Skills/Knowledge:
• Deep expertise in user interface design best practices, tools and techniques
• Knowledge of how infrastructure and architecture decisions impact software design
• Understanding of product design and development processes and best practices, preferably with experience in enterprise software design and development
• Understanding of the investment management industry, business practices and operations. Middle-to-back office experience with either a technology vendor or with an asset manager is preferred.
• Experience working with clients to understand design requirements and translate these into actionable designs
• Ability to support sales and marketing activities as a UI / product expert
• Ability to communicate well with both internal and external audiences
• Strong time management and prioritization skills, as well as attention to details
• Self motivated – ‘Find a way to get it done’ attitude

Responsibilities:
• Develop UI standards for the PORTIA solution suite and manage adherence against standards for Product and Development teams. Work with clients to understand workflows and usability issues and address UI-related client issues. Provide guidance on UI infrastructure and architecture
• Deliver functional design deliverables as part of our software development process, acting as a subject matter expert supporting our Product and Development organizations.
• Serve as a UI expert, staying abreast of industry activity, competitor activity, market activity, etc.; maintain a list of potential product enhancements for focus areas. Possess a deep understanding of PORTIA products, client operations and workflows, and how our products address client workflow issues.
• Support sales, marketing and client support efforts related to focus areas, including involvement with marketing collateral creation, relevant sales tools, other deal support as needed and addressing of escalated client issues
• Performs other duties as required

Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree, preferably with emphasis in interaction design, human factors and ergonomics or software development and design.
Job Related Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in UI design and development, preferably with experience in financial technology and enterprise software solutions. Experience with middle-to-back office systems comparable to PORTIA is preferred.
