Job Description

This is a fulltime opportunity located in Chicago, IL

Zebra Technologies is seeking to hire Java Developer to come and join the newly started Platform Applications Group. This software development division of Zebra located in downtown Chicago, is working on launching an exciting product using cloud based technology like AWS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, CloudFormation, VPC’s and RDS.  This product division is also working on Mobile applications using HTML5, CSS3 and a variety of JavaScript frameworks like Backbone and SASS.


Responsibilities:

Working within a cross functional, Agile working environment, The  Java Developer is responsible for fully hands on development and work with the other developers in the team towards the product goal.  This candidate will have a sound knowledge of Java, MongoDB, SQL and be prepared to work on a variety of technologies. The candidate should be self motivated and should have the drive to work on rapidly changing requirements to meet users needs.

Job Requirements

Required Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience working as a Core Java Developer
  • Good understanding of web application development, software standards, software development life cycle and methodologies.
  • Ability to work across product teams in a cross functional environment with various roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Interaction Designer and Architect)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Actively identifies issues and raises impediments, finds solution to blockers and helps resolve technical issues in time to help achieve sprint goal.
  • Agile/ Scrum knowledge is a plus

 

Technical Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Java, J2EE Web Applications in Client Server environment.
  • Prior experience working with the Spring MVC / Struts 2. 0 Framework
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML and any Web UI Java framework like GWT, ZK, etc.
  • Working knowledge of building compelling web UI application frameworks.
  • Strong interest in product design and building extensible frameworks.
